The Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) or, informally, the Q Course is the initial formal training program for entry into the United States Army Special Forces.Phase I of the Q Course is Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS). Getting "Selected" at SFAS will enable a candidate to continue to the next of the four phases.

If MOS Qualified, you can enlist for one year to try out the 19th. If you are not MOS Qualified or want to enlist in a new MOS, you must enlist for a minimum of 3 years. If you are enlisting from the Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard, you must attend the Army's Prior Service Basic Combat Training (PSBCT) course before going to your MOS School.
